Alaska Association of Conservation Districts and the 12 Soil & Water
Conservation Districts in Alaska are
able to accomplish their missions
through the help of partners in the
federal, state and municipal
governments, other associations,
nonprofits, private organization and
others. Partners vary by Districts.

The US Department of Agriculture is a
primary partner. This includes
associations with USDA's Natural
Resources Conservation Service.

The
Forest Service was established in 1905 and
is an agency of the U.S. Department of
Agriculture. The Forest Service manages
public lands in national forests and
grasslands, which encompass 193 million
acres.

AACD and Districts also work with
agencies of the Department of the Interior,
including US Fish & Wildlife, the National
Park Service and Bureau of Land Management.

Alaska Department of Natural Resources
The
Alaska Association of Conservation Districts
works with state agencies, especially the
Alaska Department of Natural Resources and
its Division of Agriculture and Division of
Forestry. The 12 Soil & Water Conservation
Districts are overseen by the Natural
Resources Conservation Development Board,
which is appointed by the governor.

Youth programs are an important part of
AACD's mission. Partners include Alaska FFA,
Canon Envirothon, Project WET and Alaska Ag
