The Alaska SWCD can assists educators throughout the district with needs related to conservation and natural resources education. The following programs are available to educators. Additional services may be available, contact the district office at (907) 271-2424, extension 108 or akswcd@alaskaswcds.org. Did you know that we grow more than 2.3 million pounds of carrots and 18.5 million pounds of potatoes in Alaska each year? Did you know that only 3% of Alaskans are involved in the agriculture industry? Or, that Alaska imports almost all its agricultural products? Find out how to make your students agriculturally literate and ways to incorporate enriching agricultural activities into your classroom. Curriculum and Classroom Presentations The Alaska SWCD provides teachers within the district with curriculum, lesson plans, and guest speakers for their environmental education efforts. Services are offered on a special request basis and are dependent upon staff availability and funding. District staff are experienced natural resources professionals who have had training in teaching environmental concepts.
